Dean T. Biggerstaff
(Jacksonville, FL)
|
| Tribute left by: |
Cathy Dixon (Jacksonville, FL) |
| My tribute is for my father, Col. Dean T. Biggerstaff. How can you put into mere words the total worth of such a good and honorable man? He is a man that always puts the needs of others before his own without complaint or hesitation. He is a man that is humble yet still walks with the swagger that is characteristic of the fighter pilot. He is brave in the face of adversity, and yet so loving to his family. I am blessed to call him not only my father but my hero. |

Now that im older that was one hell of a hero, he was all military, and loved every bit of it. I'm so proud of him. He was top decorated soldier and went in when he was only 16. |

| Tribute for: |
Patrick Monahan
(Johnstown, PA)
|
| Tribute left by: |
Patrick Monahan (Johnstown, PA) |
| Dear Maj Patrick Monahan,
Oh how I've missed you since your condition forced you to leave our ranks. You were such a bold, proud, and courageous leader...from Utah to Afghanistan. While you served proudly, your TBI & PTSD became too much to bear. You simply saw and endured too much. But, I do miss seeing you in your polished Air Force Blues and crisp BDUs. You were respected by all. Yet now, you struggle to endure the harsh lifestyle of a disabled combat veteran. Never give up! I love you. |

William Walker III (Sammamish, WA) |
| This Tribute is for Col. William (Hank) Walker II
Hank Walker will always be my hero. He served in Vietnam, and then continued his service to this country for over 30 years. Hank Walker was a talented Navigator, a gifted Pilot, an above average singer, a decent dancer, a good fisherman, and a world class shooter. But more than that he was my father who taught me to be proud of our country, and the brave men who serve it. He was all that is good about our millitary. And he will be MISSED |

Alert Dogs
(From all over america)

| Tribute left by: |
Eugene Pearson (Atlington, TX) |
| Excerpt from
MISSILEER
By Captain A. Wyckoff
Beneath it all they're common men,
who eat and sleep and dream,
But between them is a common bond,
of knowledge they're a team.
A group of men who love their land,
who serve it long and well,
Who stand their thankless vigil,
on the brink of man-made hell.
In boredom fluxed with stress,
encapsuled they reside,
They do their job without complaint,
of pleasures oft' denied.
For duty, honor, country,
and a matter of self-pride. |

| Tribute for: |
Lt. Colonel William Dyess
(Albany, TX)
|
| Tribute left by: |
Robert Johnson (Surprise, AZ) |
| I am paying tribute to Lt. Colonel E. Dyess and veterans he represents that fought during the battle of Bataan and Corregidor. The time period was 7 December 1941 until 10 May 1942.
Thousands of officers and enlisted AAF personnel had no choice but to serve as infantrymen and fought the enemy during the battles.
Upon reparation during 1945, many AAF veterans were properly processed and recognized for their service. They were awarded (among other awards and decorations) the following:
The Bronze Star Medal. All participants were recipients of the Distinguished Unit Citation (Presidential Unit Citation) are entitled.
BSM (1st OLC)
The Combat Infantryman badge (CIB) in accordance to guidelines. (ALL WWII recipients of the CIB are entitled to the BSM).
The procedure continued until as recent as 2003 when Congressman Patrick Kennedy (RI) presented the CIB to an AAF veteran.
Today, the guidelines are being ignored or misinterpreted by civilian employees of the U.S. Army. They are denying AAF veterans justice by recognizing their combat roles as infantrymen, and approving awards and decorations due.
Colonel Dyess is entitled to the above listed, but never received contrary to guidelines. Where is the justice?

David Albone
(Ormond Beach, FL)
|
| Tribute left by: |
Linda Brett (JACKSONVILLE, FL) |
| My father, Dave Albone, served from about 1958 to 1986. We lost him on September 12, 2011 due to cancer. He spent 27 years serving the Air Force then turned his attention to helping others with the Red Cross Disaster Services program, including time as a first responder to the aftermath of the September 11 attacks.
As is true with many selfless givers, he did not talk about his accomplishments, and as his daughter, I am craving information that will add to my already-wonderful memories of him. |

He turned 21 on the roof of a building watching the Japanese invade China. He transferred to the Army Air Corps and then was one of the first Air Force officers. He retired as a full Colonel after 31 years in the military. I'm looking at his "bus drivers" cap with "scrambled eggs" on the brim as I write. He was an amazing man. 500 characters aren't enough. |

David Ronk (Canton, OH) |
| Maj Gen Clarence R Autery... was my Commander of the 17th TRS in Zweibrucken AB, Germany from 1972-1973.
At the time, I was a young man that had
not used his head. My interest in the Air Force WAS sincere, but I used my younger civilian background as a part of not growing up. Col Autery, at that time, understood and supported me. The years have gone by without never forgetting what he did for me. I cried at age 60 when I recently found that he had passed. I pray to God he will rest in peace. |

Mary Jane Guajardo (Spokane, WA) |
| My father allowed his service to be a guide for my life. Through his 22 years in the air force he managed to grow, and love diligently, a family. His integrity, drive, and pursuit of excellence helped shape us into the individuals with an understanding of what it means to serve. Never was it overpowering, but always with the best in mind, much like his service in the USAF. It is difficult to love two things wholeheartedly, but my dad showed us how its done through love for us and our country.
